EMC (Electromagnetische Compatibiliteit)

EMC-measures  are in the new NEN1010 no longer informative, but normative. EMC stands for Electromagnetic Compatibility. The definition of EMC is how the equipment persists regarding its electromagnetic surrounding. In others words, to what extent is equipment influenced by other equipment? The operative range of the EMC is roughly dividable in two categories:
- Immunity, the extent to which the equipment is resistant to electromagnetic radiation, and
- Emission, the extent to which the equipment emits electromagnetic radiation.

In Europe, the EMC Guideline is applicable. This is a so called new approach guideline where in the guideline, only the essential demands are shown. In the EMC Guideline, these essential demands are summarised in the Dutch phrase  ‘You will not disturb and you will not be disturbed.’ It is, however, a fact that all electronics emit electromagnetic radiation and all electronics are more or less sensitive to electromagnetic radiation.
